LHS alum and soon to be VSU graduate, Shelby Hammack, gave a presentation on her career as a tattoo artist at Fringe Tattoo Studio, and how her experiences in AP Art at LHS and gaining her art degree from VSU helped shape her career path.
Shelby demonstrated using her tattoo machine on oranges, and then students were allowed to try her machine on fake skin used by tattoo artists for practice.
Thank you, Shelby for this unique experience and for giving back to your school! See more of her art on her Instagram: @prodigal.sun.tattoos.

Hahira artist Steven Walker visited Mrs. Taylor’s Painting 1 and AP Art class today for an oil painting demonstration. Students in Painting 1 are about to start acrylic landscape paintings, and the class was very thankful to Mr. Steven, for taking the time to answer our questions about life as a professional artist and his painting process. Steven Walker is a prolific landscape painter in Hahira, Georgia. View more of his artwork here: https://stevenwalkerstudios.com/hey-steven

Mrs. Croft and Mrs. Baird’s Astronomy and Earth Systems classes took an exciting field trip to the Kennedy Space Center to explore the wonders of space up close! From walking among towering rockets in the Rocket Garden to experiencing immersive spacecraft exhibits and cockpit simulations, our students dove deep into the astronomy topics they’ve been studying in class.
They saw impressive rockets of all shapes and sizes, learned about space missions like Starliner and Boeing’s contributions, and even got a hands-on feel for astronaut gear and space travel technology.
This trip brought the classroom lessons to life, fueling a passion for space exploration and science careers. We’re proud of our students for reaching for the stars—literally! 🌟
