After learning about how mimicry and camouflage are essential for the survival and success of many species, 7th grade science students created their own butterflies and bugs for a hide and seek activity to illustrate their understanding of these concepts. 🌟 What an incredible learning experience for our 6th graders at the Valdosta State University STEAM Center! 🌪️🌧️ The students rotated through hands-on stations where they explored everything from weather patterns and the Coriolis effect to tornadoes and the water cycle. 🌍💧 They even got the chance to step into the shoes of a meteorologist and forecast the weather! 🌦️ It was a fun and educational visit that brought science to life in ways that they won’t soon forget. 👏 #STEAM #LearningByDoing

Why do arrows switch directions when water is poured in front of them? After observing this phenomenon as their class opener, Mrs. Herman's physical science students collaborated to write CERs (Claim-Evidence-Reasoning paragraphs) based on their prior scientific knowledge. They corrected any errors in their writing after learning more about light wave behavior. ⬅️➡️💡📝 #STEM #Inquiry
